Teaching Philosophy
A classroom should be a place where a student has the opportunity to learn but also feel safe, supported, and accepted for who they are. I believe that every student has the right to be themselves when walking into the classroom and walking out, and it is my job to make sure they do. I believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and bloom like a flower. I believe that every teacher should have empathy, guidance, love, and patience while they also continue to grow and learn themselves.
Every student is different and has a different dream. As a teacher, I want to be there to help them discover their dream and be a role model for them. I want to help students discover their passion and believe in themselves. I want to support my students and guide them not only academically but also emotionally. Teaching is more than helping students read, write, and solve math problems. It is also building relationships and creating a classroom environment where students feel heard, valued, and, of course, respected. I want my classroom to feel like a second home where students can express joy, sadness, nervousness, creativity, and individuality without the fear of judgment.
I also believe it is very important to support students with different learning needs, including students with IEP’s and special education. Every student learns differently, and it is my responsibility to adapt lessons and teaching strategies to help all students succeed. I want to create lessons that are flexible, engaging, and accessible so every student feels capable and included in the learning process.
Equity, inclusion, and belonging. Are also very important parts of my teaching philosophy. I want to create a culturally respectful classroom where students from all different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences feel represented and appreciated. Every student deserves equal opportunities to succeed and feel welcome in the classroom community, which I will build with the help of my students.
As someone who understands the importance of support and communication, I also want to help English language learners feel included and confident. Learning a new language can be very challenging, so I want to use patience, visuals, my bilingual skills, encouragement, and communication to support my ESL students in their learning journey. I want all students to know that their voice matters and that their background is something to be incredibly proud of.
Overall, my goal as a teacher is to inspire, guide, and support students both academically and personally. I want to build meaningful relationships with my students and create a classroom community filled with all kinds of kindness, growth, creativity, and, most importantly, belonging.
